Athena valve oil seal grommet: manufactured with the best material and high precision machinery. The sealing grommet has the function of retaining the oil and preventing it from escaping: the outer part ensures a hermetic seal in the seat of the sealing ring while the inner lip, thanks to its profile, the radial force exerted by the spring and the characteristics of the material, slides over the valve, creating a barrier that prevents the oil from escaping. Its perfect functioning and durability depend on many factors such as the profile of the sealing lip, the radial force, the flexibility of the lip and the material from which it is made. In most applications, the solution with rubber on the outside is adopted, which offers a good static seal and allows coarse machining of the seat: only in cases where there are high internal oil pressures, or low seats and heights, is it advisable to use oil seals with an outer plate.
